International cooperation<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In accordance with the “Strategy of internationalization of Sumy State University for 2019 – 2025”, the Department of Pathology is actively involved in the development of international cooperation of the University.<\/p>

Every year, teachers, graduate students and students enrich their knowledge and practical skills through participation in academic mobility programs, international research projects and scientific congresses and forums.<\/p>

History of international cooperation<\/strong><\/p>

European Society of Pathology<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

The development of international cooperation was initiated by the head of the Department, prof. Anatolii Romaniuk, who participated in the European Congresses of Pathology (ECP) in 1997 and 1998 (Copenhagen, Maastricht). In 2011 prof. A. Romaniuk and assistant R. Moskalenko became members of the European Society of Pathology and participated in the XXIV ECP in Prague (Czech Republic) and for the first time made a poster presentation. Since 2016, the participation of department representatives in the ECP became regular and the delegation has grown every year and now is expanded by graduate students (Cologne (2016), Amsterdam (2017), Bilbao (2018), Nice (2019), Glasgow (2020), Gothenburg (2021)). It became possible because of the availability of travel grants from the ESP.\u00a0 Young scientists – M. Lyndin, R. Moskalenko, A. Piddubnyi, V. Sikora, N. Hyryavenko, O. Kolomiets received travel grants from ESP and attended ESP Congresses. Our colleagues presented scientific results as oral presentations (prof. A. Romaniuk and A. Piddubnyi) and as poster presentations. In 2019 Assoc. prof. R. Moskalenko received a grant in the framework of Giordano Fellowship internship program.<\/p>

Unfortunately, the SARS-Cov-19 pandemic changed the format of official events and the Congresses 2020 (Glasgow – held) and 2021 (Gothenburg) were held online.<\/p>

Seminars of the Salzburg and Cleveland Clinics (Open Medical Institute of the Austro-American Foundation with Soros Foundation support)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Prof. A. Romaniuk also initiated our participation in pathology seminars of the Open Medical Institute (Salzburg) of the Austro-American Foundation in 2013. Other representatives of the Department joined these seminars in 2017 (M. Lyndin and E. Kuzenko). In 2019 and 2021 (last year – online) R. Moskalenko took part in seminars. Participation in events hosted by the Open Medical Institute of the Austro-American Foundation enriches the participants with up-to-date knowledge and valuable connections with colleagues.<\/p>

Collaboration with Ume\u00e5 University, Sweden<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Assoc. prof. R. Moskalenko initiated the productive cooperation between Ume\u00e5 University and Sumy State University. For the first time he underwent an internship in the Swedish University in 2015 (for 9 months) in the “Nanoguard” – the project of the 7th European Commission program. The long-term internship allowed to develop stable interaction and cooperation with representatives of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics of Ume\u00e5 University, subsequently expanding them in the two Erasmus + KA1 international mobility projects in 2017-2019 and 2020-2022. Two graduate students (A. Piddubnyi and O. Diachenko) and Assoc. prof. R. Moskalenko participated in these projects. In 2018 Mr. Roman Moskalenko received a 6-month postdoctoral research grant from the Swedish Institute. This cooperation has made it possible to publish a series of papers in peer-reviewed journals with a high impact factor, to take part in the joint grant applications. The representative from the Department of Pathology (assistant Artem Piddubnyi) received a stipend for 2-year post-doc period (2020-2022) to run his research at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics of Ume\u00e5 University. Intensive international cooperation with group of prof. Thomas Boren resulted in the creation of Ukraine-Swedish Research Center SUMEYA (https:\/\/sumeya.med.sumdu.edu.ua\/en<\/a>).<\/p>

Cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Effective cooperation with the German University of Duisburg-Essen began in 2017 ago and now its resulted in joint publications in top-rated scientific journals and participation in symposia, internships, the Erasmus + KA1 academic mobility program received in 2020. The main role in the cooperation with the scientific group of prof. B. Singer has Assoc. prof. M. Lyndin (he received grants from DAAD in 2017 and 2018) and Assoc. prof. V Sikora (had DAAD project in 2019). The publication of the monograph “Cell adhesion molecules of cancer-embryonic antigen (CEACAMs)” (2020) is the result of close cooperation between scientists of the two countries.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Collaboration with the University of Foggia, Italy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Assoc. prof. V. Sikoras’ participation in an internship in the framework of Erasmus + KA1 program (postgraduate level) between SumDU and the University of Foggia began intensive and efficient cooperation between the Department of Pathology and the University of Foggia.\u00a0 This made it possible to perform joint research with further development and good prospects. The cooperation resulted in the grant for V. Sikoras’ post-doc research at the University of Foggia in 2021-2022.<\/p>

Cooperation with the Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University, Kosice, Slovakia<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Assoc. prof. Nataliia Grintsova initiated and developed the scientific cooperation of the Medical Institute and Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University. She got a grant for an internship at the Faculty of Medicine of Slovak University. Her scientific researches founded a base for further cooperation between Universities with the prospect of new scientific and educational projects.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
