The staff of the Department of Pathology sincerely congratulates its founder, Honorary Professor of SumDU Anatoly Mykolayovych ROMANIUK, on his 70th anniversary! We wish him health and further successful, fruitful work for the benefit of SumDU and Ukraine! Prof. Romanyuk A.M. has been working at Sumy State University since December 1993. Anatoly Mykolayovych has outstanding achievements that make up the glorious history of the Medical Institute of SumyDU:
– With his direct participation in January 1994, the Department of Pathological Anatomy was created, where lectures and full-fledged practical classes in pathological anatomy began in February 1994, and later in forensic medicine.
– Under the leadership of Romanyuk A.M., a pathology macro museum was created at the department, which includes more than 800 specimens of various pathologies of the human body, some of which are presented in the premises of the University Clinic for the purpose of career guidance work among young people.
– Under the leadership of Romanyuk A.M., numerous textbooks with the Ministerial seal in Ukrainian, Russian and English were prepared at the Department of Pathological Anatomy, which allowed to 100% close the issue of educational literature for students. He is a co-author of the state textbook on pathological anatomy in Ukrainian.
– Under the leadership of Romanyuk A.M., the All-Ukrainian Olympiad on Pathological Anatomy was organized for the first time in Ukraine based on the Department of Pathology, which was held at SumDU for 6 consecutive years (2009-2013).
– At the initiative of Romanyuk A.M. in the medical institute, an English-language project for training foreign students was prepared and implemented.
– Romanyuk A.M. created a morphological school of pathological anatomy at the medical institute. At the initiative of Romanyuk A.M., a postgraduate and doctoral program in pathological anatomy was opened at the department. Under his leadership, more than 20 candidates and 2 doctoral theses were defended, and active preparation of doctoral theses and works for the award of a doctorate continues
– Every year, the department staff publish their research results in peer-reviewed journals registered in the “Scopus” and “WoS” databases. The total Hirsch index of the department staff is one of the highest among all departments of the medical institute. The Hirsch index of Romanyuk A.M. is currently 14 with a growth prospect.
– Romanyuk A.M. was the first deputy director of the Medical Institute for Scientific Work and directly carried out all measures to establish this work at the medical institute. His participation established numerous contacts with scientists from medical universities in Ukraine and other countries. All institute scientists were united to carry out a single scientific theme, which received state funding several times.
– With his direct participation, a professional scientific publication on medicine was launched at Sumy State University, and permanent and one-time postgraduate studies in various scientific specialities were opened.
– Romanyuk A.M. first organized annual international scientific and practical conferences, “Current Issues of Theoretical and Practical Medicine” at the medical institute, which are continued to this day by his students.
– Under the leadership of Romanyuk A.M., PhD of pathological anatomy, was the first in the medical institute to start contracting activities and is currently a leader in this work among other departments.
– Romanyuk A.M. at the Department of Pathological Anatomy was the first to establish a scientific centre for pathomorphological research, where active contracting activities are conducted, the volume of which is increasing annually from 5 thousand in 2011 to 2 million UAH in 2024.
– Under the leadership of Romanyuk A.M. at the Department of Pathological Anatomy, for the first time in the city of Sumy and the Sumy region, the determination of tumour markers in malignant neoplasias and breast cancer was started, which allowed increasing the effectiveness of the treatment of this disease.
– Romanyuk A.M. is a member of the specialized academic council for morphological disciplines at the Kharkiv National Medical University and Sumy State University.
– Prof. A.M. Romanyuk was awarded the honorary Minha medal from the Association of Pathologists of Ukraine and has honorary diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Sumy regional administration.
– Romanyuk A.M. actively performs clinical diagnostic work in medical institutions of Sumy and the region.
