TRIUMPH OF “PATHOBOOKING”: DEPARTMENT’S INNOVATIVE STARTUP WINS “SIKORSKY CHALLENGE 2025”

The Department of Pathology at SumDU Medical Institute sincerely congratulates its team on their brilliant success at the XIV International Festival “Sikorsky Challenge 2025,” which took place in Kyiv (Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) from October 28 to 31, 2025!

The startup project “PATHOBOOKING” achieved a well-deserved victory in the prestigious nomination “Sectoral Innovation.”

The Winning Team:

Roman Moskalenko (Professor, Head of the Department, Startup Leader);

Taras Savchenko (PhD Student, SumDU Department of Computer Science)

Nataliia Hyriavenko (Associate Professor of the Department);

Artem Bondarenko (PhD Student of the Department).

The “Pathobooking” project is an innovative online platform for providing highly qualified consulting services in pathohistological diagnostics. It creates the opportunity to engage experts from leading domestic and foreign laboratories and clinics, significantly improving the quality and accessibility of medical diagnostics.

Direct Quote from the Team Leader, Prof. Roman Moskalenko:

“I participated in the Sikorsky Challenge startup school courses at the end of 2024 with a firm intention to master a new form of activity for myself. The courses turned out to be quite interesting and practically oriented. Influenced by the training and my own ideas, I returned to the Sikorsky Challenge for the competition with my own project, ‘Pathobooking,’ which was based on my daily diagnostic activity with elements of innovation.

To implement the idea, I formed a team of like-minded people. We have long successfully cooperated with Taras Savchenko (SumDU Dept. of Computer Science) on scientific projects in digital medicine, so it was logical to try something closer to practical implementation and the real economic sector. Our colleagues — Assoc. Prof. Nataliia Hyriavenko and PhD student Artem Bondarenko — strengthened the team with their skills and experience in the field of diagnostics and medical tourism.

I consider the start of the work to be extremely successful, but all the main challenges and achievements are still far ahead.”

In addition to the monetary reward of UAH 50,000, the team received an invitation to cooperate with PJSC “Meridian” named after S.P. Korolyov, which opens new prospects for the project’s development.

We congratulate our colleagues and wish them further success in implementing innovative solutions!
