From September 12 to 16, 2026, the largest event in the European morphological community, the 38th European Congress of Pathology (ECP 2026), took place in Stockholm (Sweden). The slogan of this year’s forum was “Innovation Driving Excellence in Pathology”.
The Stockholmsmässan Congress Center gathered an impressive number of specialists from all over the world. According to official data from the organizers:
– 5,923 participants (in a hybrid format: in person and online) from 100 countries of the world were registered;
– 2,436 scientific theses were submitted;
– 439 personal bursaries (grants) were provided for young scientists, 10 of which were received by representatives of Ukraine (scientists from universities, institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and leading diagnostic laboratories).
It is nice to note that 2 out of 10 Ukrainian bursaries were won by future scientists of the Department of Pathological Anatomy, who have already chosen postgraduate studies at SumDU, which confirms the high level of research at our university. Congratulations to Vladislav Kropelnytskyi and Natalia Savchenko, who presented poster presentations, and Natalia is the winner of the section on liver and pancreas diseases! Expanding the participation of Ukrainian representatives in a forum of this level not only allows them to present their own achievements and get acquainted with the latest tools of digitalization, molecular diagnostics and artificial intelligence in morphology. This is a first-class platform for networking, developing new ideas and expanding partnerships.
It is pleasant to observe how active young people from Ukraine are increasingly integrated into the international European community every year, forming a positive image of domestic medical science at the global level.
