Interregional cooperation between the departments of Pathology of Sumy State University and Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University

On April 30, 2026, the Head of the Department of Pathology of SumDU, Professor Roman Moskalenko, paid a working visit to the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.

This visit became an important event for strengthening ties between the Sumy and Lviv Schools of Pathology, opening up new horizons for joint scientific and educational activities. The hosts of the meeting, Professor Yulia Kuzyk and Associate Professor Volodymyr Vovk, conducted a meaningful tour of the department for the guest. Professor Roman Moskalenko had the opportunity to get acquainted with the outstanding history of the Lviv Department, which is one of the oldest in Ukraine and preserves the traditions of European medical education.

During the visit, special attention was paid to the scientific base and educational space. Colleagues demonstrated modern scientific morphological laboratories, where current research is conducted, and the famous anatomical amphitheater, which allowed us to feel the special academic atmosphere of the LNMU.

The most impressive part of the program was a visit to the Museum of Human Diseases. This museum is not just a collection of macropreparations, but a unique object that has the status of National Heritage of Ukraine (according to the register of scientific objects that constitute state heritage). The museum’s collection, amassed over decades, is an invaluable resource for medical training and scientific research.

During the official part of the meeting, Professor Roman Moskalenko and Lviv colleagues discussed specific steps for further cooperation. Among the key areas:

1) joint research projects in the field of morphology;

2) exchange of experience in the implementation of innovative teaching methods;

3) academic mobility of teachers and students between Sumy and Lviv.

We sincerely thank our Lviv colleagues for the warm welcome, professional openness, and inspiring excursion. We are confident that this meeting will become the foundation for many joint successes!
